STUDENT, FACULTY & STAFF ID CARDS

General Policies <<

The Institute for Extended Learning (IEL) issues an Identification Card to IEL students, faculty and staff for purposes of verifying status and providing access to Community Colleges of Spokane (CCS) facilities and services. Students are encouraged to obtain and maintain an ID card. Faculty and staff may request a card. This card is solely for the use of the individual pictured on the card and its benefits are non-transferable to other individuals.

The cards are issued to students after registering for classes and who will be attending 10 or more classes in one quarter. The card expires when the cardholder is no longer affiliated with the IEL.

Do not affix stickers or other items to your ID card. ID Card ImageOnly the quarterly validation stickers issued by the IEL may be on the card. Do not punch a hole or in any way damage the card. Please handle the card carefully so you may extend its life and not need a replacement. You should store your card in a protective sleeve or wallet and be careful not to bend or break it.

Getting a Card <<

You will need to present a recent photo ID and proof of registration to the appropriate office to receive a card. You will want to go to the office associated with the center where you are in attendance. The ID locations and contact person are as follows:

ID cards requested at any of the centers listed above, other than the Colville Center and the AEC, have a turn around time of one week. You will have to return to the office where your picture was taken to pick up your new card.

Updating Your Card <<

Student cards are valid for one quarter. At the end of the quarter, do not throw it away if you intend to attend subsequent quarters. You will get your card updated at the appropriate center at the beginning of each quarter. To update your card, staff will place a sticker on it with the new valid dates. These stickers should not be removed or tampered with. Faculty and staff do not need to update their cards. Their cards are valid for the entirety of their employment with the IEL.

Presenting ID Upon Request <<

Students should carry their ID cards at all times while on any CCS premise. The ID card must be shown upon request by any faculty member, security personnel, or any other official member of the CCS staff. Refusal to do so is considered a violation of the CCS Student Code of Conduct.

Lost Cards <<

In the event an ID card is damaged, lost, or stolen, a replacement must be requested from the center at which the ID was issued. There will be a $2.00 charge issued to replace an ID card.

Enforcement <<

Authority for enforcement of this policy, including validation/activation procedures, is vested with the Dean of Student Services.
