The Spokane Small Business Development Center (click for map to SBDC) promotes economic vitality within Northeast Washington communities by providing expert business advising, topical workshops, and applied research to existing businesses and entrepreneurs. The Center assists small businesses from all business sectors, creating jobs and capital formation in our communities.
The Spokane Small Business Development Center is recognized as a premier economic development resource for business retention, expansion, and entrepreneurial development.
The assistance we provide to small businesses includes:
- Workshops:
Low Cost, Non-credit workshops in Starting, Planning, Marketing and Managing a small business. Classes in Taxes, Record Keeping, Legal Issues and Business Technology are also available. Fees for the workshops are reasonable. Our Business Advisors have certified broad-based skills and significant experience as business owners and managers. We provide one-on-one, confidential advising at no charge for management and technical business affairs such as:
-start, purchase or sale of a business
-choosing and incorporating new technology
-financial management and record keeping
-business plan development
-market plan development
-business research
We also provide access to secondary research for demographic information, innovation assessment, feasibility analysis and more. From 2001 to 2005 the Center advised 1,237 businesses and offered 269 workshops attended by 2,368 businesses and entrepreneurs.
The Spokane SBDC is a division of Community Colleges of Spokane's Institute for Extended Learning. It is a cooperative effort of Washington State University, Community Colleges of Spokane, and the US Small Business Administration.
